Cologne introduces charging curbs for e-cars

For the first time in Germany, e-cars can now be easily charged at the curb. In Cologne, there are now so-called charging curbs. “The principle is pretty similar and just as quick as with charging points - only you don't have a point that takes up space or requires costly repairs, you have a charging point that is integrated into a kerb.” And what about wind and weather? That has also been considered. In the event of flooding or heavy rain, the charging kerb switches itself off. A heater is integrated for the winter. The kerbs are even equipped to withstand vandalism or careless drivers. “Even with a 40-ton truck taking the kerb with it, the loading point won't break so easily. We have installed extra bulletproof glass. The system is extremely robust.” The loading kerbs will now be tested for twelve months.
