German Army vehicles are regularly named after animals. This is to express what makes the unit particularly special. Wiesel, for example, is the name of a small, nimble and agile tracked vehicle. The Beaver is a bridge-laying tank. It can be used to cross bodies of water. The badger can dig through earth with its excavator arm. The first predator was the "Leopard" main battle tank.
