Skoda 4×4 Winter Experience - Safe driving in snow and off-road

Quelle: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

The 4×4 versions of the Karoq and Kodiaq feature Snow mode in the Driving Mode Select driving profiles, while the all-wheel-drive versions of the Octavia, Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq also have Offroad mode on board, depending on the equipment. The Offroad profile optimizes the characteristics of the assistance systems for off-road driving. It is active up to a speed of 30 km/h and includes starting, traction and braking assistance as well as hill descent control. This regulates the vehicle's speed on steep off-road descents via the braking system and engine braking torque. In off-road mode, the infotainment display also shows data such as the steering angle, a compass and an altimeter. The Snow tread assists with low grip, while the anti-lock braking system (ABS) allows slightly more wheel slip and accumulates snow in front of the tires, increasing braking efficiency. At the same time, the anti-slip control (ASR) does not yet intervene when the wheels are spinning slightly, so that the tire profile of the better grip. The 7-speed DSG selects higher gears in the lower speed range than in normal operation and the accelerator pedal reacts less directly to prevent a sharp increase in torque and thus wheelspin.
