Rotor, stator, gearbox, and inverter - all core components of the innovative, highly integrated E-drive will be manufactured in the Steyr plant in the future. The housing of the E-motor is cast in the aluminum foundry of the Landshut plant and further processed in Steyr. The inverter is produced in a new in-house cleanroom environment. Thus, the Austrian engine plant is also entering the field of electrotechnology. The assembly of the Steyr E-drive components takes place on two new lines. Overall, the production concept of the Gen6 E-drive is similar to the principle of a modular system. This enables the highly flexible production of various E-drive derivatives for the entire model range of the New Class. The modular concept leads to positive economies of scale and cost savings in development and production. Furthermore, it improves the scalability of production volumes. The modular approach keeps production, supply networks, and procurement highly flexible.
