New Kia Sportage PHEV now on sale

Kia has further expanded its range of rechargeable models and is also offering its best-selling SUV with a plug for the first time: the new Sportage plug-in hybrid, which can travel up to 140 kilometers per hour and 70 kilometers purely electrically can drive is now on sale throughout Germany. The 195 kW (265 hp), part-time electric vehicle with all-wheel drive as standard is the top engine of the fifth model generation, with which Kia is launching a version of the compact SUV specially tailored to European requirements for the first time. In addition to the plug-in hybrid, there is a choice of highly efficient mild hybrid petrol and diesel engines, which have been available since the end of January. The new Sportage presents itself with a powerful and elegant design, high-tech interior at premium level as well as the latest connectivity and assistance systems and, despite similar dimensions to its predecessor, offers significantly more space. The basic price of the plug-in hybrid, which comes with a wide range of standard equipment, is 44,390 euros. It is reduced by the innovation premium from 7,177.50 euros to 37,212.50 euros. A Spirit and a GT-line package are optionally available. The 7-year Kia manufacturer's guarantee also applies to the traction battery. The Sportage is produced at the Kia plant in Zilina, Slovakia. The Sportage plug-in hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine (132 kW/180 hp) with a 66.9 kW electric motor and a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. It mobilizes 350 Nm of torque, which is available from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm, and sprints to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds (top speed: 191 km/h). Average CO2 emissions are 26 grams per kilometer. The four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission has a new "Terrain Mode" function, which ensures optimal traction on snowy, muddy or sandy surfaces, in addition to a sport mode that enables a decidedly dynamic driving style
