New entry in the GUINNESS Book of WORLD RECORDS™ for the Mazda MX-5: Last weekend's MX-5 'Rally of Records' held at the Modena racetrack was officially the largest parade of Mazda MX-5 vehicles in the world, with 707 vehicles. This breaks the Dutch record from 2013, which was set during a parade of 683 vehicles and lasted for almost a decade. The parade brought together all four generations of the iconic roadster in Modena. Under the eyes of the official Guinness observer, it wound its way around the famous racetrack before the record was officially confirmed at 6 p.m. to the delight of thousands of MX-5 fans from Italy and all over Europe. Numerous other Mazda activities took place as part of the record event, including the "Fun to drive will never die" presentation. Mazda engineer Nobuhiro Yamamoto, third and fourth generation MX-5 program manager, Elisa Artioli, car enthusiast and granddaughter of former Lotus owner Romano Artioli, and other speakers shared what makes them passionate about the car and what triggers that driving pleasure known at Mazda as "Jinba Ittai" - the intuitive connection between vehicle and driver. The love for the roadster was also the focus of the presentation "Mazda MX-5 - Stories of an Icon", where Nobuhiro Yamamoto was joined by, among others, Andrea Mancini, who keeps an MX-5 collection in his Umbrian luxury resort "Miataland". So the fan meeting at the Modena racetrack was not only a hunt for the world record, but also a celebration of a car that has evolved from generation to generation while always remaining true to itself - a timeless icon and the best-selling roadster of all time.
