After a car had already crashed into the guard rail, another car hit several people who were first responders at the scene of the accident. One of them suffered life-threatening injuries. Car goes off the road due to icy conditions First, according to the police, a car driver traveling in the direction of Lindau had gone off the road on the A96 between Landsberg and Buchloe due to icy conditions. He crashed into the guard rail on both sides and then came to a halt on the hard shoulder. Car slams into stationary vehicles and first responders Some people who were first on the scene of the accident also parked their cars on the hard shoulder to provide first aid. Shortly after, however, another car approached, and its driver lost control in the same place as the car that had crashed earlier. It first crashed into the vehicles parked on the hard shoulder and then slammed into the group of first responders. Flung over guardrail, knee injured and hit by vehicle debris A 29-year-old first responder was hit so hard by the car that he was flung over the guardrail. The 29-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries. Another first responder, a 19-year-old, was injured in the knee. The other helpers were slightly injured by flying vehicle parts. The 29-year-old man was immediately taken to a hospital where he underwent immediate emergency surgery. The 19-year-old first aider was also taken to hospital. A96 closed for two hours in the direction of Lindau For the time of the accident investigation and the recovery measures, the A96 was fully closed in the direction of Lindau for about two hours. Because of the danger to the life of the injured man, an expert was present at the scene of the accident. The Landsberg and Buchloe volunteer fire departments took over the rescue and cordoning-off work, and the Mindelheim freeway maintenance department was also involved. The vehicles involved in the accident had to be towed away; they were impounded by the Augsburg public prosecutor's office for further investigations.
