1,600 Newton meters of torque. 1,600 PS of power. 440 km/h top speed. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport1 is the strongest and fastest series hyper sports car in the world. Since summer 2019, it holds the speed record for series vehicles with 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h). A solitary figure in automotive history and a technological masterpiece. For continuous development and optimization, Bugatti regularly tests its series vehicles under extreme conditions. As technical support for checking performance and top speed, an especially powerful all-wheel hub roller test bench is now used. Each wheel runs on a large roller instead of between two small rollers. Advantage: Like on the road, the wheel has only one contact point, so the rolling behavior is similar to that on the road. Slip, walking movements, and power loss are reduced compared to a two-roller test bench. This means that the tires heat up less, which in turn enables higher speeds. Speeds of over 400 km/h are possible - a speed range that the Chiron Super Sport effortlessly reaches. An extreme range: At 420 km/h, the tire rotates over 50 times per second. Forces occur on the tread that are equivalent to about 4,000 times the acceleration due to gravity (g 9.81 m/s2). Thus, the weight of the valve increases from 18.3 grams to around 55 kilograms at full throttle.
