Almost every three minutes last year, the Yellow Angels had to rush out to help in Hamburg. In other words, around 186,000 missions. By the way, about 4 percent less than in 2021. Nationwide, the numbers have also decreased to just over 3.4 million missions. And this is due to the mild winter. Because temperatures are crucial for the main cause of breakdowns - the battery. The colder it gets, the more prone to malfunctions it becomes. At 43 percent, it is still the number 1 problem, followed by engine damage at 24 percent and problems with the generator, starter, electrical system, or lighting at 10 percent. Because more and more electric and hybrid cars are on the road, the number of operations here has increased to 52,000. The main cause, with over 50% - the starter battery. Because it is also needed in electric cars to start up the systems. New in 2022 was breakdown assistance for bicycles. It was used around 5,500 times nationwide. The main reason, with 77 percent, is flat tires. Chain damage comes in second at 8 percent. By the way, 12 percent of all breakdowns are reported via the app, thus shortening the overall assistance process.
