Lamborghini LB744 - In the Lightness Lies the Power

Quelle: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

Automobili Lamborghini has been synonymous with groundbreaking innovations in car manufacturing since its founding 60 years ago. Few weeks before the unveiling of the first V12 plug-in hybrid HPEV (High Performance Electric Vehicle), the automaker from Sant’Agata Bolognese introduces a unique technical solution in the automotive industry. The LB744's body shell is designed as a monocoque, a structure concept inspired by aviation. The entire monocoque is made of various carbon fiber composites, with the front section being exclusively made of Forged Composites for the first time. This composite material, consisting of short carbon fibers and epoxy resin, was patented by Lamborghini in 2008 and has been used in structural components since then. The monocoque structure increases the torsional rigidity of the vehicle, reduces weight, and thus improves driving dynamics. Moreover, the LB744 is the first super sports car with a front section entirely made of carbon fiber, even the conical impact absorbers in the vehicle front are made of Forged Composites. This design makes the component much lighter than a comparable metal structure while still ensuring significantly higher energy absorption - it is twice as high as in the aluminum front section of the Aventador Ultimae.
