The new Audi Q8 e-tron - Digital Matrix LED Headlights
Quelle: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)
The light in the Q8 e-tron comes optionally from digital matrix LED headlights. Split into 1.3 million pixels, the light can be controlled with high precision, enabling many new functions. The orientation light marks the car's position in the lane on highways and helps the driver to stay safely centered. Additionally, three new functions are available with the extended traffic information, lane light with direction indicator, and orientation light on country roads. Behind the digital matrix LED headlights is the new technology with the abbreviation DMD. This stands for Digital Micromirror Device and is known from video projectors. Its core is a small chip with around 1.3 million micro mirrors, each with an edge length of a few thousandths of a millimeter.
