The "finger structure" of the building, an optimized version of the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, enables 80 percent of the parts to be delivered directly to the correct assembly point on the line. Additional advantages for the all-electric in-house logistics include autonomous transport trains that deliver the batteries from the high-voltage battery production directly to the installation location, or Smart Transport Robots that autonomously bring smaller components to the line. By networking all internal and external databases, the entire logistics achieves a previously unprecedented digital depth, numerous interlocking manual analysis processes are automated. Information is thus available at all times in a structured and evaluated manner at the touch of a button.
