The new Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric - Making electromobility affordable and sustainable

The European market for electric vehicles is changing rapidly, with customers demanding even more affordable models. Renault is responding to this demand: In 2023, engineers began work on a vehicle with an entry price of less than 20,000 euros (without government subsidies). However, to offer an affordable and competitive electric city car, simply adjusting the price is not enough. Renault had to fundamentally rethink its design and production methods. As part of this organizational transformation, supported by radical technical decisions and Ampere's expertise, the company succeeded in developing a vehicle with a planned price of under 20,000 euros. The Twingo E-Tech Electric features an LFP battery (Lithium Iron Phosphate), a first for the Renault Group. This technology utilizes abundant and widely available natural resources such as iron and phosphate, reducing dependence on critical metals like cobalt and nickel. This strategy is fully aligned with Renault's approach to decarbonization and the company's goal of developing electric vehicles that are more sustainable and responsible, without compromising on safety or performance.
