Volkswagen relies on a 2.0-liter turbo engine for the motor - a modification of the drive from the Golf GTI Clubsport with 221 kW (300 hp). Through internal engine measures, VW's engine team increased the power of the Golf GTI EDITION 50 to 239 kW (325 hp) - an additional 44 kW (60 hp) compared to the classic Golf GTI in the base configuration with 195 kW (265 hp). The maximum torque was raised to 420 Nm for the EDITION 50. For comparison: The Golf GTI Clubsport reaches 400 Nm, the Golf GTI 370 Nm. The chassis of the Golf GTI EDITION 50 has been further sharpened and adapted to the higher power. A MacPherson front axle and a four-link rear axle form the basic layout. Overall, the anniversary model is 15 mm lower than the base configuration.
