In the current automotive scene, there are few winners. Besides Cupra, whose models are currently hitting the taste of young target groups, Dacia is especially successful. When consumers need to save or watch their expenses in times of crisis, the question of core needs becomes more prominent. A Dacia currently completely fulfills these basics. Good quality, appealing design, and a lot of car for the money, that's the formula for success and it should continue to build a stable customer base. Now Dacia has presented its latest model for an urban subculture, or rather a production-ready study in Paris. The Romanian Renault subsidiary Dacia has translated this definition into an electric car for the city. The Hipster Concept, first shown, is intended to represent an 'alternative vision of electromobility' or in marketing speak 'the electric car of tomorrow.' Dacia sees the study as an alternative to expensive electric cars and should, according to the brand's officials, 'enable as many people as possible to access essential mobility.' Ideal for the recently decided electric car aids for lower incomes. The design team of the brand took a completely new approach and designed a three-meter-long and, without a battery, only 425 kilograms light electric car, which is very commendable because it is already difficult to explain when a car has to store a significant part of the stored energy for transporting the heavy battery. With these values, the Hipster Concept is 20 percent lighter than the Spring, of which 40,000 units have been sold in Germany so far. In total, the small car achieved 180,000 registrations. The design of the concept car is at first glance a modern version of city vehicles, and this is no coincidence, explains Romain Gauvain, responsible for advanced design and exterior design at Dacia. The short Hipster Concept - a possible competitor of Opel Rocks, Fiat Topolino, and Citroën Ami - is surprisingly spacious, so that four adults have enough space. Dacia promises a range of 150 to 200 kilometers when it reaches series production. According to Dacia, this could happen quickly. The trunk can be expanded from 70 liters to 500 liters, so that, for example, a washing machine can also be transported in the rear. The tailgate extends over the entire width of 1.55 meters, and to create additional space, the rear headrests move to the side, making room for the household appliance. The simple-looking seats are surprisingly comfortable, and instead of classic door handles, straps are used to access the interior. Additionally, the smartphone can also be used as a digital key. While the Hipster Concept provides a glimpse into the future, the brand significantly upgrades the current model range and remains true to its claim to offer affordable mobility. And this in an environment that has changed significantly in recent years. Not least because of the new regulations from Brussels, average prices for new cars in Europe have increased by 77 percent since 2010. The Sandero, the best-selling model in Europe last year, like the Jogger, the second best-selling vehicle in the C segment, has been revised for the new model year. Both models now receive the new LED light signature and a redesigned front end. The interior has also been updated, and a new multimedia system with connected navigation is now on board. The responsible parties are giving both models a new hybrid drive with a system output of 155 PS, which was previously reserved exclusively for the Bigster. Combined with an automatic transmission, fuel consumption is reduced by ten percent compared to the previously used Hybrid 140, and up to 80 percent of city trips can be completed electrically. Dacia is the market leader in Europe for vehicles that combine petrol and autogas engines. In the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, and Jogger Eco-G 120, a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 120 PS, 20 more PS powerful, is now part of the program, combined with a manual six-speed gearbox. An alternative six-speed dual-clutch transmission is also available. To increase the range, the tank volume has been increased to 49.6 liters for the Sandero and 48.8 liters for the Jogger, resulting in ranges of 1590 kilometers for the Sandero and 1480 kilometers for the Jogger. Towards the end of the year, the two SUVs Bigster and Duster will roll out to customers with a new drive unit. For the first time, they combine hybrid technology with LPG fuel and all-wheel drive. The system output is 154 PS, and for the combustion engine, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, which can be controlled via paddle shifters on the steering wheel, takes over the power transmission. The electric motor at the rear is a world premiere! It is connected to a two-speed gearbox, with the first gear responsible for off-road capabilities. The second gear, on the other hand, is said to improve performance up to a speed of 140 km/h. Thanks to the two tanks with a volume of 50 liters each, Dacia claims that the range can be increased to up to 1500 kilometers. In addition to the revision of the existing model series, Dacia will launch more new models in the coming years. This includes an electric small car in the A segment, which will use the electric Renault Twingo as a base and cost less than 18,000 euros. A year later, another model in the C segment is expected to start.
