Test passed on long distance - Mercedes-Benz VLE is efficient, practical and agile in handling thanks to rear axle steering

Quelle: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

The route was nearly 1,100 kilometers long from Stuttgart to Rome, which two Mercedes-Benz VLE test vehicles completed with only two short charging stops of 15 minutes each. The route profile was demanding. On winding and steep mountain roads across the Alps, long highway sections, heavily trafficked country roads, and narrow streets, the VLE demonstrated its everyday usability for family trips and leisure activities. Focused on everyday usability with a view to the efficiency of the electric powertrain, recuperation, thermal management, and the effects of rear axle steering on vehicle handling. The Mercedes-Benz VLE scored full points here: The test vehicles effortlessly covered the 1,090-kilometer route from Stuttgart to Rome in about 13 hours in flowing traffic. Charging was done only twice for 15 minutes each on the way. The outside temperature was 11 degrees Celsius at the start in Stuttgart, and the arrival in Rome was at 33 degrees. Comfort was not compromised, the interior was air-conditioned to 22 degrees throughout the journey. Rear axle steering proved particularly effective on winding mountain roads and in narrow streets. It will ensure agility and thus stress-free handling in everyday life.
