BMW iX5 60 xDrive - 460 kW High Power Charging Demo

The new BMW iX5 is being launched with the sixth generation of BMW’s eDrive technology. This includes a new powertrain with a completely new high-voltage battery concept and will now be implemented in the new BMW iX5, after having debuted in the BMW iX3. Known as Gen6, this new development with 800 V technology delivers significantly extended range, faster charging, and bidirectional charging functionality. Alongside updated and highly efficient electric motors, Gen6 includes completely new high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells. These deliver 20% increased volumetric energy density than their predecessors, the Gen5 prismatic battery cells. Faster Charging for the iX5 60 xDrive means: up to 460 kW peak DC Charging Power and adding a range of up to 226 miles (363 km) in only 10 minutes (WLTP). Charging the 141 kWh battery pack (net) from 10 to 80 per cent takes just 23 minutes.
