Volvo Cars Accident Research Team – over 50 years of turning real-world accidents into safer vehicles

Quelle: AutoMotoTV Int. (Glomex)

Established in 1969 and operational since 1970, Volvo Cars’ Accident Research Team conducts in-depth analyses of 30 to 50 real-world accidents each year to better understand how to enhance occupant protection and continue advancing vehicle safety. When an accident involving a Volvo occurs in the vicinity of Gothenburg, Sweden, the team travels to the scene to document the incident in detail, analyze it, and derive insights that can be applied to the development of the next generation of vehicles. More than five decades of real-world research have contributed to the evolution of safety in Volvo vehicles, helping to identify new protection challenges and develop solutions capable of adapting to the diverse situations that can arise on the road. Technologies such as the innovative, highly adaptive seat belts found in the new Volvo EX60 leverage this accumulated knowledge to tailor protection to the specific circumstances of an accident and the needs of the occupants.
