At just 15 years and one month old, Óscar Fuertes Jr. has been given a unique opportunity by Hyundai Motor España to make his competitive debut behind the wheel of an official Hyundai i20N Rally2 'Step2'. Following two days of testing in Portugal—overseen directly by Hyundai Customer Racing Iberia, the organization that manages Hyundai Motor España’s motorsport programs—the brand has reaffirmed its commitment to the young driver from Madrid by entering him into the final round of the 2026 CERT-Rallycar (Spanish Gravel Rally Championship): the Rally de Granada. This weekend, Óscar Fuertes Jr. will become the first 15-year-old driver to compete at the wheel of a Hyundai i20N Rally2 'Step2', as well as the youngest debutant to drive a vehicle from the top national-level category. Diego Vallejo, the co-driver mentoring him during his initial foray into this discipline, will accompany Óscar Fuertes Jr. through the stages in Granada starting this Friday. Additionally, Vallejo—who hails from Lugo—will drive the Hyundai i20N Rally2 'Step2' on public road sections, with the young driver from Madrid guiding him from the co-driver’s seat.
