The first battery-electric BMW iX5 utilizes the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology. This features a new high-voltage battery concept incorporating cylindrical cells and 800-volt technology. With a usable energy capacity of 144 kWh (in the US) and 141 kWh (in the EU) [net], the BMW iX5 60 xDrive boasts the largest high-voltage battery ever installed in an all-electric BMW model. Propulsion is provided by an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, combined with the electric BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
