The battery is the second key technology for electric mobility and a core strategic competency for Mercedes-Benz. Different vehicle segments and customer requirements call for various cell technologies, specifically designed with a focus on range, charging capacity, or performance. Mercedes-Benz defines the requirements, develops the battery systems, and integrates them precisely into its vehicles. At the same time, the company is working on next-generation battery cells. The goal is to achieve higher energy densities, shorter charging times, and greater performance, while using fewer raw materials and reducing costs.
