Brazil can export poultry again: What does this mean for prices in Europe?

Quelle: AGRARHEUTE (Glomex)

Among Brazilian poultry breeders, there is a sigh of relief. All restrictions related to poultry exports are set to be lifted. The country is once again considered free of avian influenza, ending a pause in trade of over four months. The relaxation initially applied only to regions outside the crisis area of Rio Grande do Sul, where highly pathogenic avian influenza (bird flu) broke out in May. Exporting from there will also be allowed until October 16. The resumption of poultry meat imports may tend to have a price-dampening effect on the European market, as it helps alleviate some of the supply shortages caused by bird flu outbreaks.
