Memmingen and Freedom: The City in the 16th Century

The city of Memmingen experiences an attention in the year 2025 like never before. The reason for this is the 500th anniversary of the twelve Bauernartikel that originated in the city. 1525 was the year that would forever change Memmingen's history. The fact that the city could become the center for the rebellious peasants was because Memmingen gave people many freedoms in terms of expression. We take a look at the free imperial city in the 16th century and the situation in and around the city.
