WingFoil Racing World Cup starts with surprises at Ensis EngadinWing

The Ensis ENGADINWING WingFoil Racing World Cup started yesterday in bright sunshine and wind up to 21 knots in front of the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Silvaplana in Switzerland. 54 riders from 13 countries and 4 continents took to the water to compete in four long-distance races of approximately 6.5 miles each. In the men's competition, the newly crowned European champion Mathis Ghio (FRA) could not control the proceedings as expected. Rookie Sean Herbert (NZL) surprised everyone and secured victory in the first and second races. Italian Alessandro Tomasi joined the list of winners with his victory in the 3rd race. The last competition of the day was won by Pole Kamil Manowiecki. In the women's competition, Maddalena Spanu (ITA) managed to take the overall lead after initial difficulties and a 4th place in the first race. Czech Kristyna Chalupnikova, on the other hand, impressed with a victory and three second places, making it clear that she intends to fight for podium finishes throughout the week.
