Parental Behaviors That Make Your Child Selfish

Quelle: VIDEOELEPHANT (Glomex)

Many parents want to raise generous and empathetic children, but without realizing it, some common behaviors can encourage children to become selfish. This is because children learn more by observing adult behavior than by listening to advice. For example, if you always defend your child without considering others, it learns that it is always right, making it difficult to develop empathy. Additionally, saying 'yes' to everything without setting boundaries can make the child believe that the world revolves around it, reducing its frustration tolerance. Giving gifts or rewards without the child making an effort can also create the expectation that everything should be easy and immediate. Excessive protection prevents the child from learning to deal with the consequences of its actions and limits its autonomy. Another important point is not to validate the child's feelings, especially if it doesn't want to share something. This can lead to confusion and anger. Lack of affection and the absence of examples of generosity in everyday life also contribute to selfish behavior. Being a role model of empathy, setting boundaries with love, and acknowledging your child's feelings are important for it to grow up more generous and cooperative.
