How to Cool Down Your Dog: Tips for Preventing Heatstroke

Quelle: VIDEOELEPHANT (Glomex)

The summer months mean a lot of outdoor activity for our dogs, but it's important to keep them safe and cool. Here are some measures you can take to prevent heatstroke in your dog. If your dog spends a lot of time outdoors, make sure they have plenty of water and shady spots to rest. It's best to walk your dog in the morning or evening to avoid the hottest time of day. One way to determine if the sidewalk you're walking on is too hot is the 'seven-second test.' If you can't keep your hand on the ground for more than seven seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws. Never leave your dog in a parked car for an extended period, even with the windows open. Watch for the common symptoms of heatstroke, such as your dog's nose being hot and dry instead of moist and cool. Call a veterinarian if you suspect your dog is suffering from heatstroke. They can advise you on the next steps.
