The body of Brazilian Juliana Marins, found dead in Indonesia, is still awaiting release in Indonesia. The family challenges the autopsy conducted by local authorities and demands a new independent investigation as it finds the original conclusions questionable. An autopsy or necropsy is a forensic medical examination to determine the cause of death. Tissues, organs, and body fluids are analyzed to identify traumas, poisonings, and diseases. The procedure can take between 2 and 4 hours, but final reports may take days or weeks, especially if additional tests are conducted. A repeat autopsy is also possible days or weeks after death if the body has been properly preserved, usually through refrigeration or embalming. The better the preservation, the more accurate the results. In Juliana's case, the family intends to bring the body to Brazil for a new autopsy to clarify all doubts. Experts say that even after some time, it is still possible to identify internal injuries, chemical substances, or signs of violence, which are crucial for resolving suspicious deaths.
