Sleeping Naked During a Heatwave Can Heat You Up, Not Cool You Down

Whether you believe it or not, the worst thing you can do during a heatwave is sleep naked because it makes sleep more difficult. We wear pajamas in bed because the fabric wicks sweat away from the body and keeps us cool while sleeping. When you sleep naked, sweat collects on the body and stays there, making it even hotter since there is no fabric to absorb it. So opt for a lightweight, breathable pajama when sleeping during a heatwave to stay cool. However, this does not apply to babies who can also sleep comfortably in a diaper. Sleep experts also advise against turning on a fan at night. Fans can spread allergies, cause dry skin, and muscle aches. To keep a cool head at night, you should open the window of your bedroom a few hours before bedtime to allow the room to cool down. You can also keep the blinds or curtains closed during the day to prevent light from entering, helping to keep your bedroom cool. Switching to lightweight cotton fabrics for your bedding also helps you stay cool at night.
