Donald Trump is selling clothing in his online shop with the inscription "Trump 2028", referring to the year of the next US presidential elections, in which he is constitutionally not allowed to run. A social media account associated with Trump posted a photo of his son Eric wearing one of the new red hats, which cost $50. The Trump Store website promotes the hat with the description "Make a statement with this Made in America Trump 2028 hat". The store also offers navy blue and red t-shirts priced at $36 with the slogan "Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules)". Trump has not publicly ruled out the possibility of a third term in the White House, although recent polls show a sharp decline in his approval ratings. Surveys indicate that Americans are increasingly concerned about Trump's handling of critical issues, including the cost of living and his erratic tariff policy. According to the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice". Having already served as president from 2017 to 2021, Trump has claimed that he is not joking about a third term, and last month claimed that there are "methods" to make it happen. Any serious attempt to change the Constitution would be uncharted territory. To amend the US Constitution and allow a third term for the president, a two-thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate would be required. In addition, ratification by at least 38 of the 50 states would be necessary, which is unlikely.
