In recent months, chocolate bars with a creamy pistachio filling in the style of Dubai have been all the rage, thanks in part to the advertising by TikTokers and influencers. The great success of the chocolate inspired by Knafeh, an Arabic dessert, has led to its export to most European countries, resulting in competition, as in the case of Angel Hair. Although these products have become top sellers, they pose a health risk to consumers as they often do not meet European and British food standards. According to the FSA, many of the bars purchased on TikTok Shop do not correctly list the ingredients and do not indicate the presence of allergens such as milk and nuts, which violates British regulations. Another issue is the potential presence of unauthorized additives and colorants on the European market. For this reason, some major supermarket chains like Lidl and Waitrose have even stopped selling these products. "Some imported chocolate products from Dubai do not meet our standards and could pose a risk to food safety, especially for consumers with allergies," said Professor Robin May, scientific advisor to the FSA. The FSA has advised all buyers with allergies or intolerances not to purchase these products unless they are certain they are sold in the United Kingdom. The BBC reported that authorities are currently taking samples of the products to assess the extent of the problem and are urging consumers to report any suspicions.
