Midwives in Bonn demand better pay
Quelle: SAT.1 NRW (Glomex)
In Marienhospital Bonn, the situation for midwives is becoming increasingly critical. The freelance midwife Jolanta Reis, who has been accompanying women through pregnancy and childbirth for 25 years, expresses concerns about the new midwifery assistance contract, which will come into effect in November 2025. This contract stipulates that midwives will receive only 80 percent of the usual remuneration for one-on-one care. Almost every second midwife is now considering quitting, with 68 percent citing poor pay as the main reason. Jolanta and her team are calling for more appreciation and fair pay for their important work.
