Spectacular auroras light up Alaskan skies during geomagnetic storm

A severe geomagnetic storm on November 12 caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun led to beautiful auroras all over the world. Photographers were ready to capture the aurora over Fairbanks, Alaska, which glowed such intense shades of red and green that they practically lit up the sky.
