Decriminalization: Fare evasion in Kiel no longer a crime

In Kiel, fare evasion will no longer be considered a crime in the future. This means that if caught without a ticket, you will still have to pay 60 euros, but you will not receive a criminal charge. This decision was made by the Kiel City Council upon the proposal of the joint faction of The Left and The Party. The rationale behind this decision is that no one should end up in prison for a missing ticket.
