A massive fire in Seoul, South Korea's Guryong Village, often erroneously referred to as the 'last shantytown in Gangnam', burned for nearly 13 hours after igniting at a garbage collection site and forced the evacuations of 107 residents from 77 households on October 27. The 65.7-acre village has been subject to numerous fires over the years, exacerbated by residents' use of thick cotton padding called tteoksom for insulation.
