The balsa wood door that kept Kate Winslet's character Rose alive in the 1997 film "Titanic" has sold for $718,750. The prop was sold during Heritage Auctions' "Treasures from Planet Hollywood" event and was the most expensive piece sold. The sale price of the door beat other iconic props such as Indiana Jones' whip from "Temple of Doom" and the axe from "The Shining". It was revealed at the auction that the "Titanic" door was "actually part of the door frame above the entrance to the ship's first class lounge". The prop gained notoriety due to a long-running debate over whether Rose and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) could have both fit on it. In theory, this would have saved Jack from freezing to death in the final moments of the Oscar-winning movie. "Jack might have survived, but there are a lot of variables ... and I think his thought process was, 'I'm not going to do anything to jeopardize them. And that's 100 percent in character," said 'Titanic' director James Cameron
