Brad Pitt has publicly commented on his divorce from Angelina Jolie for the first time, which was finalized last December after more than eight years. In a GQ interview, Pitt was asked if the divorce was a relief. He replied: "No, I don't think it was such a big deal. Just something that bears fruit. Legally speaking." Pitt also commented on the media interest in his divorce: "My private life is always in the news. It's been in the news for 30 years, brother." When the divorce was finalized, Jolie's lawyer James Simon said: "Honestly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved that this part is over." In a statement, he added that Jolie and the children "have given up all possessions... and she has since focused on finding peace." Some details of the divorce were revealed in a lawsuit where Pitt claimed Jolie had violated an agreement after selling her share of their French vineyard. In her counterclaim, Jolie alleged that Pitt had abused her during a private jet flight in 2016, which allegedly triggered the divorce. The documents also claimed that Pitt verbally and physically abused one of the shared children. Pitt has denied all allegations.
