Over 100 celebrities, including Ariana Grande and Pedro Pascal, have signed a letter opposing cuts to funding for suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth. The letter is a response to the Trump administration's 2026 budget proposal, which would eliminate funding for the 988 Lifeline's LGBTQ+ Youth Specialized Services. In the letter published by The Trevor Project, Congress is urged to maintain funding for supporting LGBTQ+ youth in severe mental crises. Since its introduction in 2022, the program has handled 'nearly 1.3 million crisis contacts' and provides life-saving and identity-affirming support nationwide. According to the letter, cutting the service would have 'devastating, life-threatening consequences,' emphasizing that silence is not an option. Numerous celebrities have signed the open letter, including Sabrina Carpenter, Daniel Radcliffe, Dua Lipa, Sarah Paulson, Troye Sivan, and Dwyane Wade. Describing the issue as bipartisan, the letter states, 'No young person should be left without help in their darkest moment.'
