Tom Cruise set a Guinness World Record for "the most burning skydiving jumps by one person" after performing the stunt 16 times during the filming of "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning." In an 80-second promo video, Cruise free falls while his parachute is engulfed in flames. "I have about 10 seconds to pull off the stunt," he explains. Each burning parachute lasted only 2.3 to 3 seconds. Cruise had to act quickly - and he did, 16 times, for a perfect shot. He performed the stunts in the South African Drakensberg and jumped from a height of about 2,300 meters, sometimes wearing a SnorriCam equipment weighing about 23 kilograms to film in the air. On the 16th jump, the commercial shows the safety parachute opening and the visible relief on Cruise's face as he lands safely. "Tom doesn't just play action heroes - he is an action hero," said Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records. Guinness also recognized Cruise for the most consecutive films with a box office gross of $100 million (actor), further solidifying his reputation as a box office draw.
