While Justin Baldoni's $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds was dismissed by a judge, Lively will continue her sexual harassment lawsuit against him. Lively's attorney Michael Gottlieb told CNN that she is determined to pursue her claims and demand 'full public accountability' from her 'Just One More Time' co-star and director. Gottlieb said the ruling vindicates Lively and Reynolds and called it a message that retaliatory lawsuits meant to silence accusers 'will not work.' Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, disputed this characterization. He said the court allowed them to amend four out of seven claims and promised to present new evidence, describing the case as one of 'false accusations and a nonexistent smear campaign.' The legal battle, ongoing since late 2024, began when Lively accused Baldoni of harassment during the film's production. Baldoni denied the allegations and subsequently sued Lively, Reynolds, their publicist, and The New York Times, which first reported the allegations. The judge dismissed Baldoni's lawsuit but gave him until June 23 to reassert claims of interference and breach of contract. The defamation claims were completely dismissed. The New York Times stated that the court's decision reaffirms the importance of protected journalism.
