Katy Perry testified via video conference in a Los Angeles court, stating that she seeks "justice" in the latest chapter of a legal battle over a $15 million villa in Montecito. Perry, who purchased the property in 2020 with her then-partner Orlando Bloom, carefully avoided saying that she would financially benefit but admitted she could lose money if the judgment went against her. The dispute stems from the claim of 85-year-old seller Carl Westcott that he was not mentally capable of completing the sale - a claim that Perry's side had refuted in a previous trial. The current case revolves around a counterclaim from Perry's business manager for lost rental income and costly maintenance. Perry said she could have paid for the villa in cash but opted for a mortgage instead, acknowledging that Bloom had overseen the renovations with her as a "partner and advisor." Judge Joseph Lipner limited questions about Bloom and ruled that his testimony was unnecessary. Perry concluded her tense one-hour questioning with a laugh after clarifying that she was pregnant during negotiations with Westcott and not "in private."
