Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and received 14 minutes of standing ovations. The audience's reaction moved del Toro and star Jacob Elordi to tears as they celebrated the long-awaited Netflix film. Del Toro appeared alongside stars Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and composer Alexandre Desplat at the star-studded premiere. Netflix executives Ted Sarandos and Dan Lin were present, as well as Scot Stuber, who produced the film. The movie is an adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel. In the film, Oscar Isaac plays a brilliant scientist whose tragic creation, played by Elordi, leads to mutual destruction. At a press conference, Elordi described the creature on screen as "the purest form of myself. He is more me than I am myself." Del Toro described the film as "a quest that began at the age of 7 when I first saw James Whale's 'Frankenstein' films. In that pivotal moment, I felt a shock of realization." Frankenstein will be in selected theaters starting October 17 and will be released worldwide on Netflix on November 7.
