Hollywood stars have very different positions on the rise of artificial intelligence; many warn of the danger it poses to the entertainment industry. For some stars, AI is an opportunity to be seized - not avoided. Here are some prominent figures who openly advocate for AI... Robert Downey Jr. has shifted from saving the planet in Marvel movies to addressing real environmental issues with the help of AI. In 2019, he founded "The Footprint Coalition," an organization focused on using advanced technologies to solve environmental problems. At an Amazon conference the same year, Downey stated that robotics, AI, and nanotechnology could significantly clean up the planet within a decade. Gwyneth Paltrow also shows great interest in AI. The founder of "Goop" has invested in several AI companies, including the customer service automation startup "Forethought AI," the beauty tech company "Potion AI," and the AI-powered meditation app "Moments of Space." She also invested in "Speechify," a text-to-speech platform that acquired a license for her voice. Filmmaker James Cameron has directly brought his interest in AI into the technology sector. The Oscar-winning director of "Titanic" and "Avatar" joined the board of directors of "Stability AI" in 2024. The company is best known for its image generator "Stable Diffusion" as well as tools for generating music and sound. Ben Affleck has financially benefited from the rise of AI. In July 2026, official documents revealed that Netflix paid $587 million for "InterPositive" - a company founded by Affleck in 2022. The firm develops AI tools to assist filmmakers with tasks in post-production, such as sound mixing, adjusting lighting in film shots, or visual effects.
