Jannik Sinner advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals after his opponent Grigor Dimitrov withdrew in the round of 16. Dimitrov, who was leading by two sets, retired when he felt pain in the right side of his body at 2-2 in the third set. "I don't consider this a victory, it's just an unfortunate moment we had to experience. (Dimitrov) has often struggled with injuries at Grand Slams, so it's very tough to see him with this injury again," said Jannik Sinner. Dimitrov, who was on track for a surprise victory in the tournament after his 6-3, 7-5 opening win, has had to withdraw from his last four Grand Slam appearances due to injuries. The 34-year-old has not gone beyond the quarterfinals of a Major tournament since the US Open 2019. His best result at Wimbledon was reaching the semifinals in 2014. Sinner, the world number one, will face Ben Shelton in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, who is aiming to win the tournament for the first time. The 23-year-old reached the final in the last three Grand Slam tournaments, winning the US Open last year and the Australian Open in January before losing to Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open.
