Freight train accident near Gifhorn: Propane gas is being pumped out again

At the scene of the freight train collision near Gifhorn, the fire department has resumed work to drain the propane gas. At times, the burning off of the escaping gas had to be interrupted due to excessively low temperatures. Four of the wagons filled with flammable gas had overturned in the accident, and gas was leaking from two of them. According to the fire department, pumping out and burning the gas will take several more days. Deutsche Bahn announced that the line will remain closed until at least November 27, 2022.
