The US low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines offers biometric self-service baggage check-in on US domestic flights. The system compares a facial scan in the US with the driver's license document. The TSA, Transportation Security Administration, the U.S. federal agency of the Department of Homeland Security, has incidentally now classified and approved the technology Spirit uses after the strictest testing for sole operation without human additional control, it is currently the only system variant that may be used without human control in the U.S..
