Mercedes-Benz eActros with fully electric auxiliary drive solution and with refrigerated body

At this year's IAA Transportation 2022, in addition to the eActros tractor unit, other applications of the eActros can also be experienced. For example, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has installed the All-in-One solution eWorX developed by ZF together with a roll-off tipper from MEILLER and a skip loader from PALFINGER in an eActros. The goal is to efficiently electrify auxiliary drives for operating hydraulic equipment such as skip loaders, cranes, or aerial work platforms. The advantage: complete local CO2 freedom as well as greatly reduced noise emissions, which makes it easier to use in cities and residential areas. The eWorX system from ZF establishes the connection between the vehicle's energy management and the body. To enable optimized operational efficiency, eWorX integrates components such as an electric motor, inverter, electronic control unit, and application-specific software modules in a Plug-and-Work-One-Box solution. And this is how the solution works: The traction battery of the eActros provides electrical energy to the ZF eWorX system via a DC interface. With this, the electric motor of eWorX drives the hydraulic pump, for example, for the skip loader or roll-off tipper. A mechanical connection to the traction motor is not required. Through a CAN bus interface, eWorX ensures smooth communication between the electric truck and the body.
