A special focus in the third generation of the Q7 is on the large panoramic sunroof. The impressive light entering the interior enhances the airy feel in all three rows and increases the well-being of passengers. A newly developed kinematics allows for a slimmer roof structure, providing more headroom both in the front and rear. Optionally available are switchable transparency and for the first time, illumination of the glass roof, whose color adapts to the individually chosen ambient light. The roof can be switched between transparent or opaque in nine segments. When the Q7 is parked, the roof automatically switches to opaque to prevent outside views. Upon the next start, the last set position is restored. A pattern in the glass covers, in combination with 78 LEDs, creates pleasant lighting in the vehicle interior. The adjustable transparency allows for a quick transition between a light-filled interior and effective glare protection. The standard coated laminated glass reflects IR radiation and blocks more than 99.5 percent of UV radiation. A traditional roller blind is therefore no longer necessary. An integrated wind deflector reduces wind noise when the roof is open. The panoramic sunroof* can be operated via a button in the roof module or through the MMI.
