As the first Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) of the brand and founding father of the highly successful BMW X family, the BMW X5 has been a trendsetter and innovative shaper of the future since its introduction in 1999. This claim is also consistently upheld by the new BMW X5. It is the first model of the brand to come to market with five different drive options. In addition to variants with petrol or diesel internal combustion engines including 48-volt mild hybrid technology and plug-in hybrid models, the fifth generation of the successful model not only debuts the first fully electric BMW iX5. The BMW iX5 Hydrogen will later celebrate its market launch as the first BMW production vehicle with hydrogen drive. The powertrain includes the fuel cell system, hydrogen storage in the vehicle in the new BMW Hydrogen flat storage and an innovative high-voltage battery. The third generation of the fuel cell system enables a particularly compact design as well as a powerful and efficient system with a range of up to 750 kilometers.
