In Nuremberg's city center, the next construction phase for the redesign of Breite Gasse is starting earlier than expected. The work on Färberstraße has already begun today. The reason for this is the ongoing construction work on the former Schuh-Leiser building. By advancing the implementation, additional interventions at a later date are to be avoided. Until the winter break of 2026, the southern side of the street will be renewed first. In spring 2027, work will continue on the northern side. The completion of the second construction phase is planned for the end of July 2027. With the redesign, the city aims to make Breite Gasse as the central shopping street of the old town more attractive. In addition to new recreational areas and a renewed road surface, greening also plays an important role. A round six-week full closure of Färberstraße between Frauen- and Brunnengasse will cause restrictions from the end of August.
