Sick leave in Bavaria slightly declining: Franconia with sick days above national average

19.2 calendar days - that's how often a person in Bavaria was unable to work in 2025. Compared to the previous year - with 19.5 calendar days - the sick leave rate decreased slightly. The BKK State Association Bavaria analyzed the current sickness absence statistics of the BKK umbrella organization. There are regional differences, especially in the Upper Franconia administrative region, which leads again with 22.5 days, while Middle Franconia is slightly above the national average with 20.3 days. Upper Bavaria has the fewest sick reports with 17 days. The most common causes of incapacity for work in the Free State are diseases of the musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, and mental illnesses. The analysis refers to employed members of the company health insurance funds.
